He goes on to discuss the Environmental Impact Statement process and the critical concept of integrated infrastructure. EPA Clean Power Plan

The Sonoran Institute prepares a statement on today's release of the U.S. EPA's Clean Power Rules in order to discuss the platform for our study to be released next month. We will reveal how large-scale solar can do far more in meeting the EPA's emissions targets than originally envisioned in the rule.

Feb. 11, 2013 - Communities to Benefit from Renewable Energy Development in Arizona

thumb Arizona-Desert-Cactus-HD-WallpapersTucson, ARIZONA – In partnership with other Western states, U.S. Representatives from Arizona today introduced in Congress a proposal to establish a pilot project for leasing public land for renewable energy development. The bill, The Public Land Renewable Energy Development Act of 2013, would use revenues from development leasing on public land to provide funds to local communities, and to specifically fund local conservation projects and the restoration of wildlife habitat.

Dec. 10, 2012 - Winners of Latest GAP Grants Announced - Montana

thumb gap_grant_imageBozeman, MONTANA – The Sonoran Institute announced that four local nonprofit organizations will receive a total of $25,000 in funding support for developing creative regional conservation-related planning projects. The Gallatin Area Planning (GAP) Grants support local organizations that help Gallatin-area communities plan for growth in a way that respects the people and the land of the area.

Nov. 20, 2012 - Binational Agreement Boosts Restoration Efforts in Colorado River Delta


 San Diego, CA - After years of sporadic negotiations, U.S. and Mexican officials Tuesday are set to sign a major agreement aimed at improving binational cooperation over the Colorado River. “This a major accomplishment for everyone who has worked to restore habitat in the delta and for the local communities who benefit," said Francisco Zamora, director of the Colorado River Delta Legacy Project for the Sonoran Institute.
