Corporate Donation Disclaimer

The Sonoran Institute has been involved in mining-related research for many years, and in many parts of the West. In early 2008, the Institute released a research paper focused on the proposed Rosemont Copper project entitled, Mining’s Potential Impacts in the Santa Rita and Patagonia Mountains in Southeastern Arizona. The author of the report was Josef Marlow, senior resource economist for the Sonoran Institute. Funding for the study was provided by Save the Scenic Santa Ritas and Earthworks.

The Sonoran Institute is also an active participant in the Superstition Vistas project located in Pinal County, Arizona.  Superstition Vistas represents an unprecedented opportunity to create a model community for sustainable smart growth in an arid environment. The Institute is involved in this project with its partner, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. Resolution Copper is also involved in the Superstitions Vista project.
